Among the additives of ICRISAT’s a success Bhoochetana program for Karnataka have been: status quo of small water impounding structures; system of soil fitness cards (SHCs) given to man or woman farmers; timely software of fertilizer in the right quantities; utility of the closing 13 micronutrients that conventional NPK fertilizers lacked, and making those micronutrients available to farmers; planting of progressed cultivars; and making farmers aware about the Bhoochetana program via schooling and statistics campaigns.

The status quo of small water impounding structures performed two goals: prevent excess rainfall from washing out top soil and its nutrients; and make water to be had all yr-round for planting.

After soil fitness mapping, SHCs were developed, which offers farmers the statistics at the nutrient advice of plants to be planted, quantity of fertilizer to be implemented, the kind of fertilizer for use, and the soil fertility fame in their farms.
